Earlier this evening, young Haley sent the following Tweet that was meant to be complimentary to D'Elia:
If you have to try to be funny... Ex. Acting like @chrisdelia ....please stop trying. Please. You're embarrassing yourself.
— Hayley (@Haless25) April 8, 2014
Unfortunately, D'Elia misread her Tweet and quickly fired back with his Tweet which read, "awwwww just saw your pics. You're a little chubby. Gonna get fat in a few years. 4/7/14 8:29 PM" He apparently was patting himself on the back for his witty comeback, because he then posted a screenshot of his response to her on both Instagram and Facebook:
@TheKendalo @chrisdelia yeah he didn't realize I was complimenting him.... It made me cry honestly.
— Hayley (@Haless25) April 8, 2014
Whoops! Chris D'Elia assumed she had insulted him, and being a stand up comic decided to attempt to find what would hurt her the very most. I can only assume he wondered to himself, "What is the most offensive thing to say to a woman that will fit in just one Tweet? I know, assume she's fat. My GOD, I'm BRILLIANT!"
[start sarcasm]
FAT SHAMING. Nice, Chris. We women really appreciate a fat shamer.
Of course, Chris, being fat is honestly the worst character flaw in the world. Worse than rape, murder, liars, cheaters, misogynists (which you apparently seem to be as you attack women online), being fat is the most evil thing in the world. You got her, Chris! BOOM! Roasted!!!!
*drops mic and walks out*
[end sarcasm]
Commenting on physical appearance is seriously cheap comedy. It makes me think you're not very sharp if that's all you've got. But Shame the Shamer wouldn't exist were it not for people who do this to others. If you do it, you deserve to be called out.
So a lot of people pointed out to him on all three social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) that perhaps he misread the Tweet.
Of course, he can't actually OWN the mistake, so he cowardly deleted the Tweet. But not before I got screenshots of it, thanks to some very savvy Internet spies!
Oh, but our story doesn't end here. Nope.
He apologized to her via Direct Message on Twitter. Good.
But then realized that she is actually very attractive, and he then HIT ON HER. Bad, Chris. Bad.
@Haless25 HALEY LETS GO OUT I'M SORRY. 😌😌😌
— Chris D'Elia (@chrisdelia) April 8, 2014
They agreed to meet up for coffee next time she's in town. And of course, he'll throw in some free tickets to his show. You know, if ever he's in her Texas town.
@WilframAlpha @chrisdelia yeah, he called me fat then asked me out, big misunderstanding.
— Hayley (@Haless25) April 8, 2014
I can't forgive him for the fat shaming, but apparently after he made Hayley cry, D'Elia has kind of made it up to her, even though she admitted it was the most embarrassing thing to happen to her. And is it just me, or does it seem a little creepy that he thinks his physical presence is a reward? *shudder*
TL;DR: Chris D'Elia busted for fat shaming on Twitter.
